Getting sorted with your vacation packing is a total drag for most people. Who would rather just be  magically transported to a your vacation destination with out all the vacation packing stuff first? I for one, unfortunately real life doesn’t really work like that and vacation packing has to happen and its probably going to be you that has to do it! Ideally you should start your vacation packing long before you are due to leave for the airport - unfortunately I am probably not the only one who has left their packing to the last minute and then ends up packing suitcases at 4am for the flight due at 6!

Vacation packing is a drag but it doesn’t have to be - remember if you leave it behind you will probably be able to find buy it  somewhere! You don’t need to pack you entire wardrobe - or even most of it. You are going on vacation after all! Instead pack less and you will have less to worry about and less to unpack at the end of your trip. I suspect its an insecurity thing that means that people have to over-pack for their vacation. You don’t need to pack stuff just in case - you don’t need to pack a heavy coat for a beach vacation.

Vacation packing can be quick and easy - just get the esentials together, a change of clothes,  money, credit cards, passport and tickets and just do it! Overthinking this is most people’s problem.  If in doubt leave it out works well when applied to vacation packing.  Get a pile together for each family member, plus one bag. If they argue - delegate - let them do their own packing - and tell them they will have to carry the bag and pay in excess luggage charges as well. Keep it simple is the golden rule for packing - I think packing lists are over-rated myself. Outside of essential meds and a pssport everything else is replaceable! Oh darn you forgot to pack the socks - who cares -go and buy some! The longer your trip is going to be for the less you need really - I take the same size bag for a week as I do for a 6 month trip - I just rarely return with the same clothing as what I packed at the start of the trip.

In conclusion vacation packing is over-rated - just do it people!
