Hopefully you’ll find some packing tips here which will help your dilemma! Packing for vacation is an art which confuses lots of people but really it just requires a bit of planning and organisation. Oh and practice: the more often you pack for vacation the more efficient you will get at doing it. First off the main thing which which will effect your vacation packing is your main mode of travel: packing for a cruise will give you different packing issues than backpacking around Europe or packing the car for a road trip. The weather of your vacation destination is worth considering too: do some research get on-line and check the overnight minimum temperatures as well as night time. Chance of rain? Humidity? Its all worth considering what you are going to pack. If the area is notorious for wind not much point packing the umbrella!

Any special activities on vacation: start with your equipment rather than your clothing: make decisions as to whether you will take your special gear with you or whether you will hire or buy when you get to your destination. Many people start considering their packing my throwing a large pile of clothes on the bed or digging out their luggage and starting to fill the biggest bag they can find. That is really is not the best way to pack for a vacation though.

Remember that almost everything can be bought anywhere if you really need it: your only real packing essentials are credit card, prescription medicines and prescriptions. They used to say your tickets too but in these days of E-tickets and ticketless travel that’s just not true: in theory you could travel for ever with your passport, a pocket full of plastic cards and a change of underwear – but most people travel a bit heavier than that.
